Collaboration Tools for the Millennium Development Goals

Page history last edited by Brian G. Dowling 1 year, 10 months ago

A disclaimer here,  I am not part of the ComPart system.  I am only very impressed with it and provide it as an example of what can be achieved.  The ComPart system and the fact that they use PBWorks as part of their online infrastructure was a significant source of inspiration for this wiki.

Collaboration vs. Cooperation

A cooperative effort usually helps make up for a lack of time or resources; many people work on the task since it would take one person much longer to accomplish it. Dr. Reeves described cooperation as “divide and conquer.” Ultimately though, given time and resources, one person could run an entire assembly line single-handedly.

Collaboration means something very different. In contrast to cooperation, collaboration is more than simply making a contribution to the work effort. In a collaborative workspace, people amplify one another; the good work of one person magnifies the work of another. Individuals enhance the impact of contributions by others on the team; interaction and communication are necessary.  Explaining Collaboration to Learners

  • Development Gateway Foundation

    • Development Gateway is an international nonprofit organization that provides Web-based platforms to make aid and development efforts more effective around the world.

  • Zunia

  • ICCO

    • ICCO is the interchurch organisation for development cooperation.

  • ComPart

    • This is the ComPart homepage, a starting place for sharing information, knowledge and learning with and among colleagues and partners in the ICCO Alliance. For a further explanation in English please follow this link.

  • Working with ComPart

    • Sharing of information and knowledge is becoming more and more important for development organisations. Within the ICCO-Alliance a new way of working, called ComPart ("COMmunication with and among PARTners") is is being developed (more on the ComPart approach). In a nutshell, ComPart bring together free or very low cost Internet based applications that help to stimulate participation, collaboration and knowledge sharing in user-friendly ways.

  • Get trained on ComPart

    • In the past months we organised a series of awareness and training sessions on the different tools that we use in ComPart.

This 'intro sessions' are now over, but we continue offering support for ICCO Alliance staff and ICCO partners with ComPart 'surgeries' and team trainings.

  • web2share wiki

    • This wiki introduces some 'building blocks' - tools and applications - for open information, knowledge sharing and communication in development. It builds on the efforts of ICCO, Euforic and their partners. It supports further investments in these tools and approaches.
